Red Leaf Heights Community Yard Sale
Saturday, June 9, 2018
8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

A reminder, please do not put out signs for your yard sale as banners will be placed at the entrances and an ad will be placed on Craig’s List.

Especially DO NOT tape signs to our light posts, the tape removes the paint from the posts. They will be taken down immediately if any are found!

For your convenience the following is a list of donation agencies that you can schedule pick up of your unsold/unwanted items after the sale.

Aphids

The aphids are going crazy this year, especially on the ash trees. The only real effective way to avoid the problem is to apply a systemic drench preferably in the fall. The pictures above are two trees, same age, across the street from each other, the one on the left was treated with systemic in March and the one on the right has not been treated. You can click on the image to get a bigger view.

Aphids will probably not kill the tree but certainly will severely damage or kill some of the branches.

The experts at Zamzows says systemic can be applied at any time and will last a year, hence fall would be best since it would cover the next spring when the aphids are at their worst. Most systemics use an ounce of systemic for each inch of girth of the tree in a gallon of water poured directly around the base. The cost would be $20 to $25 for a 32 ounce bottle and can be bought at Zamzows, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

You can spray the aphids off with water using a high pressure hose but that is only effective on smaller bushes and shrubs and would have to be done frequently to stop the damage. They multiply very rapidly.

Irrigation Water Available April 18, 2018

ShoshoneFalls

Irrigation water is now scheduled to be available as of Wednesday April 18. This is about normal. Apparently there is adequate storage in the reservoirs this year. It could be available a little earlier but we need some time to let the debris flush out of the ditches.

Please follow the mandatory water schedule to ensure pressure for everyone and don’t forget to regularly clean your individual sprinkler filters. Watering Schedule

You can report issues during normal business hours (M-F, 9am-5pm) to Development Services at 939-6000, Ext. 207. If you have an after-hours emergency or if the water is off in your neighborhood after-hours, you may contact one of the following Board members: Roy 208-616-0379; Ron 208-375-0302
Contact information is also available at Contact Info.

Development Services maintains close contact with both Farmers Union and Summer Lawns concerning our water availability and their site will have the latest information.Link to Dev-Services Check the notes at the bottom of their page.

Irrigation Water off October 16, 2017

Dry Wash

Our irrigation water will be turned off on Monday October 16. Feel free to water all you want until then. We’ve had a good year – plenty of water and the pumps were only down a couple of times. The new main filter helped a lot.

October 16 is just a day or so past normal shutdown and is later than the last several years. Here’s hoping we get some good snow in the hills for next year (but not excessive down here). The reservoirs have a decent amount of carryover.

Please Don’t Put Signs On Our Light Posts

We have a problem with people taping signs to our light posts on the island entrances. This damages the finish very quickly as well as being unsightly. Tape and paper residue on the posts must be removed using WD40 and elbow grease. Any signs will be removed as soon as they are noticed. Our lights were very expensive and we ask that you please respect them.
